The Town of Marshfield has been developing their GIS for the last three years. Starting with a new fly-over in 2004 to capture Marshfield's town attributes, the town has been linking field data with an in-house GIS similar to this interface now provided for the public.
With this new interface, queries and other advanced options for locating data is now available to the public from their home-based PC. The ability to view Marshfield data in a visual representation allows the Public to save time, fuel and energy while gaining insights they would normally need to travel to Town Hall to accomplish.
Through this type of web-based application development we have encouraged the public to access and eventually even interact with various departments online. In the future, online permitting will also link to this interface and additional time, fuel and energies will be saved, for not only the public, but, also for town departments.
