Please join us for an
Assembly on the Town Green
to Celebrate the 232nd Birthday of our Nation
July 4th 2008
The ceremony will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the presentation of colors by the police and fire departments, the singing of the National Anthem, and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and a re-enactment of Marshfield’s own version of the tea party. There will then be an invocation followed by a public reading of the Declaration of Independence by twenty-nine of our citizens. Immediately following the reading, there will be a children’s parade of decorated bikes and doll carriages. All children are invited to participate. We will end the morning’s celebration with a patriotic sing-a-long.
Any Marshfield residents, children or adults, interested in reading a few lines of the Declaration of Independence are asked to call Michael Maresco at 781-837-0431.
Any children who are interested in participating in costume in the re-enactment of the tea party are asked to call
Regina Porter at 781-837-9858.
Copies of the Declaration of Independence as well as song sheets will be given out to those in attendance
