Open Burning

2006 Open Burning Season January 15th through May 1st

The Marshfield Fire Department is pleased to announce that town residents will be able to apply for Burn Permits through the mail.  Applications will be mailed the 2nd week of December to residents who applied for permits last year.  You will be asked to mail back both copies of the application with a self addressed stamped envelope and a check in the amount of $15 payable to the Town of Marshfield.  Also you will be able to log onnto our Web site www.mfdopenburning.org  for permission to burn each day as well as call 781-834-9345.  This website will not be available until January 15, 2006.

Permits will be available at Central Fire Station located at 60 South River Street between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 pm. daily starting on January 10.  If you wish to purchase one during normal business hours they are availible in the administrative office, and on weekends they are availible in the Fire Alarm office.

We encourage residents to complete their burning early in the season while there is snow on the ground.

In an effort to assist residents with questions about Brush Burning, we have provided several links that will help explain why we follow the guidelines that we do regarding the Brush Burning.  These guidelines are not developed at the local level but enforcement of them does fall on the organizations at the local level.
