Marshfield has recently procured the services of Environmental Partners Group for the Implementation of a GIS (Geospatial Information System) system. EPG will be working with Town Departments to gather and evaluate Marshfield electronic and digital data for the purpose of building the Geodatabase that most town departments will utilize.
Among the task that EPG will undertake will be the administration of the new Flyover data Marshfield procured in FY2004. This new digital data will be compiled and Analytically Calculated for the highest degree of accuracy that is capable from the 330 scale Flyover.
The IT department will oversee the project while working with all department heads for the implementation of accurate and relevant datasets based on departmental need assessments. Together with our vendors, Marshfield will build a state of the art GIS system which will be used for Engineering Projects, Law Enforcement Initiatives, Emergency Management Procedures, Fire & Rescue as well as Planning studies and Conservation objectives. Real Estate assessments will now be streamlined with verification procedures not formely available, absence of a GIS system. Revaluations can now be mapped out based on any number of factors built into queires from the new digital data.
Marshfield will be aligned with many other Commonwealth towns in it's use of GIS in the coming years. The degree to which Marshfield will utilize GIS will demonstrate how local goverment can be more efficient through the use of Technology.
