Welcome to our staff page. Learn more about the staff who are leading the programs and / or working with you and or your children.  We will keep you posted as we add additional profiles. On occasion we spice up the staff profiles with some interesting tidbits, all in good fun.


SCHOOL YEAR PROGRAM STAFF
Extended Day Program
Martinson Site

Debi Leahy
Debi is a certified Elementary Education teacher, and is in her 3rd year as the site co-ordinator at the Martinson Elementary School Extended Day Program.  She also taught several cooking and scrapbooking classes for children at the Recreation Department this past summer.   Debi has lived in Marshfield for 28 years with her husband Joe and their 4 children. Debi was a home day care provider for 5 years.   She has volunteered for many years at her children’s schools, been a Brownie leader, and has been on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Marshfield for 9 years.

Kay Bilas
This is Kay’s second year as a site coordinator at Martinson.  She has lived in Marshfield for 28 years with her husband, Mike.  She has three children who have attended the Marshfield Public Schools.  Kay taught first grade for 8 years in Chicago, Illinois.  She was a day care director for the Scituate Montessori School and has been teaching at Pudding Hill Preschool in Marshfield for the past 14 years. Kay taught two preschool programs for the Recreation Department this past summer.

Mary “B”
This is Mary’s fourth year with the Extended Day Program.  She has lived in Cohasset all of her life.  Mary was a Brownie & Girl Scout leader for over  20 years.  She has also been a CCD teacher and coordinated the 2nd grade CCD program for several years. She has taught classes in cooking, science & nature, and crafts at the South Shore Community Center in Cohasset and the Hingham Community Center in Hingham.  Mary also organizes camps during the summer and school vacations.  She has become known throughout the South Shore as “Mrs. Claus” during the busy Christmas season.  Her hobbies are knitting, crocheting and camping.

Taylor Smith
This is Taylor’s second year with the Extended Day Program.  He is an 18 year old senior at Marshfield High School.  He is an honor student and a member of the National Honor Society.  He plans to major in political science and history in college next year.  One day Taylor would like to enter politics.  He enjoys playing hockey and working with children.  He hopes to have a positive impact on each child’s life.

Brendan Nee
Brendan is a 17 year old junior at Marshfield High School.  He has worked at the YWCA camp for the past two summers.  Brendan enjoys babysitting.  He plays the guitar and enjoys music and music concerts.  Brendan enjoys running and he ran track during his freshman and sophomore years.  Brendan has a pet chinchilla!

Jennifer Chirgwin
This is Jennifer's third year working at the Martinson Extended Day Program.  She graduated from Marshfield High School and is presently attending Bridgewater State College.  Jennifer enjoys working with the children at the Extended Day Program.  She does a lot of babysitting also.

Governor Winslow Site

Diane Kane
Diane is a Site Coordinator at GWS. Some of you may know her from last year, which was her first year with the Marshfield Recreation Dept. Extended Day Program. Diane has worked as a Teaching Asst. for the Head Start Program in Marshfield and the Pilgrim Area Collaborative for Autistic Children. She has an Associates Degree in the Liberal Arts and she is certified in ABA Therapy by the May Institute.
Her most rewarding experiences are being a mother and working with children. Diane looks forward to another great year at GWS! Fun facts about her: Diane lives in Marshfield with her husband and three teenage children. For many years Diane was a CCD teacher for St. Christine’s Parish, a Brownie and Girls Scout leader and a Parent Volunteer for the South River School!

Maureen Dooley
Maureen is a 17 year old senior at Marshfield High School.  She will be working with Diane at the Governor Winslow Extended Day site.  Maureen bowls in a league at the Alley Kat Lanes in Kingston.  She is a member of the Marshfield High School Marching Rams Band.  She plays the clarinet in the band.  Maureen is looking forward to a great year with the children at Governor Winslow. When she was younger, Maureen attended the Extended Day program.

Caithlin Chandler
Caithlin is a senior at Marshfield High School.  She is a member of the High School Band where she plays the flute.  Caithlin is a member of the Drama Club and she also played on the boys' Rugby Team.  Caithlin loves crafts (knitting and crocheting, especially) and is looking forward to a great year working with the children in the Extended Day Program.

Recreation Child Care Center

Elizabeth Laudermilk
Liz has worked for the Recreation Department for 16 years. During her 43 years working with parents and children, Liz has taught in the public school schools, (grades 2,4, and 5) done private tutoring,  worked at the town playgrounds and at other After School Child Care programs. Liz always comes up with great craft ideas for the students to work on.  She is a gifted and talented teacher.  Presently she is the Site Coordinator at the Child Care Center Extended Day Program at the Library Plaza.      

Tara Faiella
Tara is a junior  at Marshfield High School.  She loves to play sports, and is on many teams at the high school including the volleyball, basketball, and lacrosse teams.  When she was younger, she went to Daniel Webster Playground and always enjoyed her summers spent there.  She enjoys working with children and is excited to make everyone’s summer at Daniel Webster fun!!!

Ann McGeoghegan
This is Ann’s second year working for the Extended Day Program in Marshfield.  She worked last year with Liz at the Child Care Center.  Ann is a grandmother of 9.  Her youngest grandchild, Gina Rose, will be entering Kindergarten soon.  Ann loves to be with children.  She keeps busy helping the children with their homework, playing games with them, or working on projects.  

Ryan Walsh
This is Ryan's second year working at the Recreation Extended Day Program.  Ryan is a senior at Marshfield High School.  He plays the trumpet in the Marching Band and the Jazz Band.  Ryan is also a member of the Student Council.  Ryan's younger sister attended the Extended Day Program at the Governor Winslow School.

Erica Lynch
Erica is a junior at Marshfield High School.  She is a member of the Marshalairs.  Erica has been involved in the Youth Cheerleading Program for many years.  She is currently a student cheerleading coach for girls in the fifth grade.


Judy Rockwell
Judy has been teaching for 38 years.  She recently retired after working for 20 years at Pudding Hill Preschool in Marshfield.  Judy taught four and five years olds  in the Readiness Program there.  Judy presently teaches sixth grade Math classes at Furnace Brook Middle School in Marshfield.  Judy was a Site Coordinator at the Martinson Extended Day for three years.  Judy helps coordinate the 2nd grade First Communion program at St. Christine’s. She has lived in Marshfield for 25 years. Judy has one daughter, Kaitlyn, who is attending Bridgewater State College.  Judy loves to read, knit, crochet and walk on the beach.  

                                                      
                                           Recreation Preschool Staff

Miss Allison, (Allison Foley)
Allison attended Wheelock College where she received her Early Education and Care Certification (EEC).  She has been teaching since 1993.  She is currently enrolled at Massasoit College.  Allison worked as a teacher at the Children's Place at the Navy Yard, Cambridge Headstart & Pilgrim Preschool.  Allison grew up in Boston and moved to Marshfield 11 years ago.  She has three children:  Devlin, Kieran, and Brighid.  All of her children attended the Marshfield Recreation Preschool with Mrs. Kite and Miss Ashley.  During this time Allison worked as a substitute teacher for Mrs. Kite.  All three of Allison's children attend the Marshfield Public Schools.


Miss Michelle, (Michelle O'Leary)
Michelle attended Bunker Hill College where she received her Early Education & Care Degree (EEC).  She has been teaching since 1989.  Michelle worked as a teacher at Little Patriot's and was the Assistant Director at the North End Children's Center.  Michelle grew up in Boston and moved to Marshfield 3 years ago.  She and her husband Tommy have two children:  Meadow and Brooke.  Her children attend school in Marshfield.

ARCHERY
Tom Herrington
Tom is the owner of Ace Archers and he is a Senior Archery Instructor. Tom has instructed archery classes for youth and adults for the recreation department for the past three years.  We look forward to Summer, Fall and Spring classes for residents of all abilities, age 8 and older. Additionally Tom is a
NAA Level 4 National Archery Coach and a NAAA Regional Judge

FENCING
Jim Mullarkey
3MB stands for Three (3) Mullarkey Brothers, Jack, Ed and Jim., who began fencing in 1963 in Peabody, MA. Over the years they have won many events including the New England Interscholastic Championships, New England Championship, North Atlantic Sectional Championships and the USA National Championships. In addition to Summer Fencing, look for Fall and Winter classes as well.

KARATE
Roger Whidden
Roger has been teaching Martial Arts since 1976. He has a Black Belt in Karate, B.S. in Exercise Science, and M.A.’s in Education & Counseling.  He is a Tai Chi Certified Teacher, and Tai Chi Fighting World Champion.   

Corey Whidden
Corey is a Marshfield High School sophomore and a long-time student of the Whidden School of Fitness.  Corey will share his knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm with the students.  F

Buddy Duksta
M.T.C. Advisor, Certified PTR Instructor, utilizing both U.S.T.A. and Professional Tennis Registry fundamentals.

 
                                                GUT CHECK SOUTH FITNESS
Patrick Brown
A certified CrossFit® Trainer who has coached at the high school and college levels and is currently the Physical Education teacher at Furnace Brook Middle School. 


                                                HORSEBACK RIDING CLINIC
 
Erin Collins -Van Steenburgh
A Massachusetts Licensed Riding Instructor who holds two national titles and has run riding camps for nine years.

                                                WINTER STARGAZING

Spencer Howe
A 1977 graduate of Bridgewater State College, operated the college’s observatory and majored in Physics.  His graduate work used an x-ray astronomy satellite at MIT, resulting in an M.S. in Physics.  Spence is currently a member of the South Shore Astronomy Club.

                                                 KIDS FITNESS
Jeff Dunn
Elementary school teacher at the South River School  and long time participant in Patrick Browns Gut check Fitness Class.
