How Can I Opt-Out of Town Trash Services?

First, the Board of Health requires that ALL residences and businesses must have some form of trash service.

-If you don't have Town trash, you must have a private hauler. The private hauler contract must be for a one-year period covering the current fiscal year and include the exact location of the pickup and date started to the end of the current fiscal year. The Fiscal year runs from July 1st through  June 30th every year.

-If you have your contract in before the bills go out, you will not be charged  the trash rate for that year or only a small portion which was not covered due to the start date of the contract. If the Solid Waste Division of the DPW does not have a copy of your current year contract on file, you will receive trash as part of your utility bill. Once billed, you will have ninety (90) days to file in order to qualify for an abatement.

NOTE: IF YOU OPT-OUT OF TOWN TRASH SERVICES - YOU MUST SURRENDER ALL TRANSFER STATION STICKERS AND ALL RIGHTS TO TOWN SERVICES PROVIDED.
