BOTH Veteran and Spouse may be buried here regardless of which passes away first. (same for cremains). Please ensure your family members know where to find your discharge papers (DD214) which will need to be given to the funeral home. The funeral home will make appropriate arrangements with Bourne Cemetery.
Headstones, Markers and Medallions
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) furnishes upon request, at no charge to the applicant, a Government headstone or marker for the unmarked grave of any deceased eligible Veteran in any cemetery around the world, regardless of their date of death.
The Survivors Pension benefit, which may also be referred to as Death Pension, is a tax-free monetary benefit payable to a low-income, un-remarried surviving spouse and/or unmarried child(ren) of a deceased Veteran with wartime service. (Click here for eligibility Requirements and how to apply)

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) is a tax free monetary benefit paid to eligible survivors of military Service members who died in the line of duty or eligible survivors of Veterans whose death resulted from a service-related injury or disease.
