Veterans Affairs Dental Insurance Program (VADIP)-click here

VA is implementing a comprehensive national VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) to give enrolled Veterans and CHAMPVA beneficiaries the opportunity to purchase dental insurance through Delta Dental and MetLife at a reduced cost.

Participation is voluntary. Purchasing a dental plan does not affect Veterans’ eligibility for VA dental services and treatment.

VADIP opens November 15 for the purchasing of plans, with coverage beginning January 1, 2014.

For more information about VADIP, explore our Fact Sheet or the Frequently Asked Questions brochure FrequentlyAskedQuestionsDocument.pdf.

Participation Guidelines

November 1, 2013

The VA Dental Insurance Program (VADIP) will offer Veterans who are not eligible for VA dental care, or who are eligible but desire additional dental coverage, the opportunity to purchase dental insurance at a reduced cost. Enrollment will be voluntary and will not affect an eligible individual’s entitlement to existing VHA outpatient dental services and treatment. Note that Veterans receiving VA Dental care do not lose that eligibility if they choose to participate in the pilot program and purchase insurance.

Veterans only have to be enrolled in VA health care to participate. There are no limitations due to service connection or priority rating. CHAMPVA beneficiaries are also required to be enrolled in CHAMPVA. Delta Dental and MetLife will use Emdeon to verify their enrollment.

VETERAN INFORMATION

1. If a Veteran recently enrolled in the VA health care system, he/she should allow approximately 5 to 7 days for their enrollment to be processed and updated in VA systems before verification is processed with Emdeon.

2. If a Veteran indicates he/she is already enrolled in VA health care and/or has received care at VA in the past, but receives a "not enrolled" response from Emdeon, they should contact VA at 1-877-222-VETS (8387) to determine if they need to provide VA additional information to update their VA enrollment status.

3. Veterans who are not enrolled in the VA health care system can apply at any time by visiting www.va.gov/healthbenefits/enroll, calling 1-877-222-VETS (8387) or visiting their local VA health care facility.
