MARSHFIELD SELECT BOARD DECLARE LOCAL STATE OF EMERGENCY

Last night, the Marshfield Select Board, in an abundance of caution, declared a Local State of Emergency that began at 7:00pm on March 13, 2023 through 7:00pm on March 16, 2023. The Select Board took these steps to better prepare to request assistance from the Commonwealth, if needed, depending on the severity of the storm. Marshfield is expecting minor to moderate flooding over three high tide cycles, downed trees, and downed power lines. All of these issues can put our residents in danger. We remind all of our residents to move their cars to higher ground, if you live in an area that is prone to flooding. If you are in close proximity to the ocean and you are concerned about the turbulent ocean waves, we suggest seeking shelter away from the ocean. It is strongly advised that residents make plans prior to the storm’s severity escalating.

For those residents that may lose their power, the Town of Marshfield has made provisions to have warming centers and charging stations at the Ventress Library, Town Hall, and the Senior Center available on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday if needed. At present, these buildings will be open for their normal hours, depending on the severity of the Nor’Easter hours may be extended.
Please continue to watch the Town’s website and Facebook page for additional information during the storm.
