TOWN MEETING & LOCAL ELECTION ARE RESCHEDULED

To All Marshfield Registered Voters:

On March 23, 2020, Governor Baker signed Chapter 45 of the Acts of 2020 (the “Act”).    This special legislation authorizes the Board of Selectmen to postpone previously scheduled municipal elections in all Massachusetts towns and, also increase voting options, all in response to the COVID-19 Virus pandemic. 

On Monday, March 30, 2020, the Marshfield Board of Selectmen voted, after consultation with the Town Clerk, Narice Casper, the town’s chief elections officer, and Town Administrator, Michael Maresco, to unanimously postpone the Town of Marshfield’s Annual Election originally scheduled for Saturday, May 2, 2020 until Saturday, May 30, 2020.    The polling will take place at the Furnace Brook Middle School Gymnasium, 500 Furnace Street, Marshfield, Massachusetts.  

Incumbent elected officials shall serve until the election of a successor under the Act. 

Qualified voters are reminded that they may vote early by mail and in order to do so should file a request with the Town Clerk by mail to 870 Moraine Street Marshfield, MA 02050 not later than noontime on May 29, 2020.   

Also, acting pursuant to Mass. Gen. L. c. 39 §9, the Marshfield Board of Selectmen, after consultation with Moderator, Don Gibson, Town Clerk, Narice Casper, and School Superintendent, Jeff Granatino, voted to unanimously reschedule the Annual and Special Town Meetings originally scheduled for April 27, 2020 to be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020.     These Town Meetings will begin at 7:00PM in the Furnace Brook Middle School Auditorium, 500 Furnace Street, Marshfield, Massachusetts.
