4x8 beds at Coast Guard Hill

Changes for the 2024 season at Coast Guard Hill (CGH):

  • There will be 2 beds added to the Coast Guard Hill Site near the driveway.  These beds are longer than the other beds currently in use.  One will be for raspberries to be grown and shared by the gardeners.  The other will be for the Recreation Department programming, if they choose not to use it then it will be planted, maintained and harvested for the Food Pantry in Marshfield.
  • One of the 4x8 raised beds at the top right will be planted and maintained by all the gardeners as a "kitchen herb garden"  This will be for perennials like chives, rosemary, thyme, and sage as well as some annuals like cilantro and dill as space permits.  All paid gardeners may use the kitchen bed for their own household use, always leaving enough for others to also harvest and enjoy.
  • We will need assistance to move the 2 donated beds from their current location off of Pine St, then reassembled and filled at CGH.
  • We are working with the high school to get a garden shed, once we have that we will seek a donation of a mower and weed wacker, if needed we will have to purchase those items.  We are also seeking individuals who will help with the regular mowing between the beds.
