Adopt-a-Seedling event - vegetables, herbs and flowers - Saturday, May 20, 2017

AgCom Adopt a seedling 17

The Marshfield Agricultural Commission will hold their sixth annual Adopt-a-Seedling event at the Marshfield Farmers Market on Saturday, May 20, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Marshfield Fair Grounds. Commission members offer vegetable, herb and flower seedlings that they have started from seed using organic materials and methods. More than thirty hard-to-find heirloom tomato varieties of many colors will be available including small cherry tomatoes, paste tomatoes for cooking, tomatoes for container growing, and varieties that routinely produce slicing tomatoes weighing in at 1 to 2 pounds. Other vegetable seedlings include kale, Swiss chard, eggplant, peppers, lettuce, and more. Shoppers will find something to add to their backyard vegetable garden, their flower beds and/or their herb stations. Commission members will be present to offer assistance and information. The donations from this fundraiser help support the Commission's free educational and informational programs regarding agriculture and the right to farm
