Brush Fire Risk - 5/16

Warm temperatures, gusty southwest winds and very dry conditions will set the stage for fire weather concerns today with the risk for brush fire development.

>

> The Fire Weather Watch issued yesterday for expected conditions today has now been replaced with a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect for most of Southern New England until 800 PM today. It is meant to bring awareness to the potential for brush fire development, issued in coordination with state forestry officials. Conditions favoring brush fire development will tend to be the most critical between late this morning to sundown.

>

> While temperatures on Wednesday will be much cooler than today, we expect even drier conditions to develop with full sunshine and gusty north winds. For that reason, and in coordination with state forestry officials, the Fire Weather Watch issued yesterday remains in effect for portions of Southern New England on Wednesday.

>

> Another update will be sent Wednesday morning to address the brush fire situation/Fire Weather Watch status for Wednesday, or sooner if conditions warrant.
