Adopt a Seedling 2023!

The Marshfield Agricultural Commission will hold its 12th annual Adopt-a-Seedling event Saturday, May 20th, live at the Marshfield Farmers' Market located at the Marshfield Fairgrounds. In addition, there will be a virtual pre-order sale online where selections can be reserved for pick-up during the market on May 20th, assuring you get first pick of the items and reduces your risk of sell-outs.

Commission members start and nurture select vegetable, herb and flower seedlings using organic seeds, materials, and growing methods. There will also be home grown perennial divisions from member gardens.  Seedlings and divisions are offered for adoption for a donation of your choice, a minimum suggested amount will be posted.

Items available will be posted on the Marshfield Farmers' Market virtual order website under the Adopt-a-Seedling icon starting May 13th, however you may pre-order earlier than directly through the links (coming late March).  All instructions will be on the virtual ordering page of the website for the market. This is a chance to jump start your vegetable garden for the upcoming season and support the Marshfield Agricultural Commission with locally grown seedlings. Go to then select Adopt-a-Seedling to place orders. Note that some varieties will only be available via the live sale at the walk-in market on the 20th of May, and even items showing as sold out may have a few available at the live market.

Some quantities are limited and ordering early is recommended.

This event is the only fundraiser for this self-funded town commission which runs two community gardens, an island on Snow Road, and supports all things agricultural for the town of Marshfield.  The town does not fund the commission, except for the approved CPC-funded projects currently ongoing.

Please watch for additional information featuring the in-person sales during the live outdoor Farmers Market at the Marshfield Fairgrounds that day.  Commission members will be on hand to answer questions about varieties, planting, and growing food and flowers as well as the Commission’s role in the town of Marshfield.  For questions email AgCom@townofmarshfield.org or visit our page on the town’s website at https://www.marshfield-ma.gov/agricultural-commission or visit our Facebook page at
