Beach Parking lot closure

Good afternoon,
Today is only Bad News unfortunately. At noon today Marshfield Beach Parking lots will be closed. This was necessitated when the state and other neighboring communities took this step. Without following suit we would run the risk of our beach lots being overwhelmed causing congestion and aiding in the spread of this deadly virus. We understand that many of our residents use the beach while still observing social distancing and this is a welcome respite from having to stay inside all day. The beach itself will remain open (as long as it is not abused by those still struggling with the social distance thing!). We ask that you “police” yourselves and continue to utilize this natural resource while maintaining the guidelines for safety. We do not want to see cars “flood” (excuse the pun) the high wall and esplanade with the parking lots closed. If you head to the beach for a quick breath of fresh air and exercise, and there are limited spots GO HOME AND COME BACK ANOTHER TIME! Grab you’re takeout from one of our local restaurants and pick up groceries and supplies needed on these rides as well. As Police Officers we are not in the habit of having to ask twice and certainly not beg persons to do the right thing….But that is exactly what we are doing today….We are BEGGING everyone to abide by the directives in place and most importantly STAY HOME as much as possible!

*Tomorrow we will have good news even if we have to make something up!

Be mindful of the following steps you can take to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Avoid touching your face, eyes or mouth.
• Frequently clean commonly touched surfaces, including electronics, door knobs and countertops.
• Avoid sharing food utensils, containers and other personal items.
• Practice “social distancing” by maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others.
• Stay home from work if you are sick.
• Practice proper cough etiquette. Cover your mouth or nose with a tissue when coughing or sneezing, throw the tissue away and wash or sanitize your hands. If a tissue isn’t available, cough or sneeze into your elbow/upper sleeve.
