COMMUNITY ELECTRIC AGGREGATION SCAM ALERT: STAY VIGILANT

It has come to the Town of Marshfield’s attention, through our Community Electric Aggregation consultant Good Energy, that there is an ongoing scam that is affecting Massachusetts Towns that participate in Community Electricity Aggregation programs, such as the Town of Marshfield. The scam, thus far, has taken place in two forms. The first scam type has been in the form of a phone call where the scammer is claiming the resident will need to pay a monetary value (e.g. $900) to continue to participate in the Community Electricity Aggregation program. The second scam type has been in the form of an email seemingly coming from ‘Eversource Energy’ that is claiming the resident will need to pay a monetary value (e.g. $900) to continue to participate in the Community Electricity Aggregation program. The Town of Marshfield has not had a reported scam communication making this claim.

Please know that the Marshfield Community Electricity Aggregation program participation is FREE to all Marshfield residents, no affiliated supplier or service company will ever contact any customer unless the customer contacts them proactively with a question or concern.
