Overdose Awareness Vigil Press Release

Marshfield FACTS and the Town of Marshfield will be holding the 5th annual
Overdose Awareness Vigil in conjunction with International Overdose Awareness
Day on Saturday August 31, 2019. The event will take place at Harbor Park,
located on Joseph Driebeck Way, beginning with a sunrise vigil at 6:00 a.m. The
Board of Selectmen have also made arrangements to have the Town Hall
illuminated in purple lights on August 31st from sunset to midnight and purple
flags with be placed on the Town Green from August 24th through September 2nd in
remembrance of residents of Marshfield and the Commonwealth who have lost
their lives to a drug overdose.

The goal of this event is to raise awareness about this epidemic, reduce the stigma
attached to drug addiction, and to give people who have been affected an
opportunity for reflection and access community support and available resources.
