Stormwater Program
The Town of Marshfield is actively taking part inpreventing and controlling stormwater runoff.Multiple departments have contributed to developing its stormwater management plan (SWMP). Our DPW is involved in outfall structure (where stormwater discharges into a water body) inventory, mapping, sampling and inspection. We clean and inspect catch basins, sweep the roads, and calibrate snow and ice treatment vehicles to control the amount of chemicals applied. We clear and inspect culverts, repair and install berms and catch basins.
We have started the process of completing the EPA's 2016 MS4 Stormwater permit and are drafting a Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE) Plan. Illicit discharges are direct or indirect discharges that are not composed entirely of stormwater and these include, but are not limited to: connections from septic tanks or cess pools and washing machine hoses. These connections are not permitted.
